Eat, Drink, and be Italian this week in San Francisco

Pamper your palate with the delicacies and delights of many of San Francisco’s leading Italian restaurants this week! Look for the special Italian menus offered at participating restaurants rated by the Accademia della Cucina Italiana of San Francisco celebrating the cuisine of the best traditions of Northern and Southern Italy: the territory of Mantova and the Region of Sicily.

In 2017, the city of Mantova, located in the region of Lombardy, was selected as the gastronomic capital of Europe. Famous for its tortelli di zucca, risotto, and the sbrisolona cake, Mantova should be your next Northern Italy destination if you’re a real foodie.

Never to be overlooked as well are the culinary secrets of Sicily, such as its arancini, fish delicacies and pistacchi which will also be featured on the menus of many of San Francisco and the Bay Area’s participating restaurants this week.

We are proud to welcome to San Francisco our two special guest chefs – Michelin starred Accursio Craparo from Modica in Sicily and Eleonora de Marchi, a classically trained chef from Mantova– and we thank all the chefs who help promoting eating well – and eating Italian — not only this week but every day.
A portion of the proceeds from meals prepared for the week of Italian Cuisine in San Francisco will be donated in support of the Northern California fires victims. This week is made possible thanks to the joint cooperation of Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Italian Ministry of Agricultural Policies, the Consulate General of Italy, the Italian Cultural Institute in San Francisco and the Accademia della Cucina italiana in San Francisco. We thank leading Italian food expert and cooking instructor Viola Buitoni for her continued support of the initiative.
